Description
The OFB is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministries in charge of ecology and agriculture. It was created in 2020 to meet the challenge of protecting and restoring biodiversity in mainland France and its overseas territories. To this end, it is responsible for environmental policing, knowledge and expertise on wildlife, management of protected areas, support for public policies and mobilization of society.
In the Grand Est region, the Actors Support and Regional Mobilization Department manages 14,000 ha of protected areas in 4 Hunting and Wildlife Reserves, it supports the State and the Grand Est Region in the development of policies in favor of biodiversity (water policy, regional biodiversity strategy, SRADDET, etc.) and in particular for the implementation of the National Action Plan in favor of the European hamster, it leads programs such as educational areas, Biodiversity Atlases, and co-animates the "Committed to Nature" schemes for communities and businesses.
