Description
Dominique Bagnard is a professor at the University of Strasbourg and director of the École Supérieure de Biotechnologie de Strasbourg. He also heads the ERL INSERM 1321 "Peptide Biotherapies." For several years, Dominique Bagnard's team has been developing brain organoids derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These three-dimensional structures reproduce key aspects of the development and pathology of the central nervous system, offering an innovative platform for studying neurodegenerative diseases or tumor and metastatic progression. Brain organoids are used to model cell interactions and the microenvironment in a human tissue context to test the efficacy of experimental drug treatments. Dominique Bagnard's team is also a pioneer in the design of therapeutic peptides targeting membrane receptors involved in these pathological processes. The large-scale production of brain organoids to enable this research into new drugs is a major objective of the team's work.
