After 20 years in the departmental services in charge of public transport and roads, and satisfied to have carried out several innovative projects, I joined the services of the Grand Est region when it was created, to take charge of the new subject of optical fiber. First with the launch of the rosace perimeter (Bas-Rhin / Haut-Rhin) which was then the leading concession network in France, then with the Losange network, in 7 departments, which amounts to monitoring the deployment of fiber at the scale of a territory almost as vast as Belgium (more than 4200 municipalities and nearly 1.5 million optical outlets). This network is not only there for streaming or entertainment but also to initiate a digital transformation of rural territories. It is therefore a new chapter that opens after that of fiber work, with digital uses.
